Pink Shirt Day - Written Prep

The meaning of Pink Shirt Day and its connection to creating a safe and inclusive school culture—not just for one day, but every day. Every classroom will receive pink slips for students to write down positive words or short phrases. 

For example, students can write things like, "I will respect others' differences," "Kindness matters," or "I will smile at others." Students can also write just one word reflecting how they should treat their peers, or ways others treat them that make them feel good.

Students reflect and write their thoughts. The slips will be collected before lunch on Wednesday and used in a collaborative activity during lunch led by the Leadership class.

Next: Into the Wild Timeline Project  Lesson Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: Understand the structure  of  Into the Wild  (non-linear narrative) and how the author uses flashbacks and varying timelines. Create a visual timeline  of key events from Chapters 1-9. Students be sure to leave space for future chapter timeline entries please.
