Intro to Creative Writing - Margaret Atwood Lessons - Masterclass.
Margaret Atwood is the author of more than 40 books of fiction, poetry, and
critical essays, including a volume of short stories called Stone Mattress: Nine Wicked
Tales, published in 2014. Her MaddAddam trilogy—the acclaimed Oryx and Crake (2003),
The Year of the Flood (2009), and MaddAddam (2013)—are being adapted for TV. Her recent
nonfiction works include Payback: Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth (2007) and In Other Worlds:
SF and the Human Imagination (2011), and her new poetry collections, The Door and Dearly, were
published in 2007 and 2020, respectively. Her novels include The Blind Assassin (2000),
winner of the Booker Prize, which honors the finest English-language literature; Alias Grace
(1996), which won the prestigious Giller Prize in Canada and the Premio Mondello in
Italy; The Robber Bride (1993); Cat’s Eye (1988); The Handmaid’s Tale(1985), since adapted into a
hit TV series with MGM and Hulu; and The Penelopiad (2005). Her other works include The
Heart Goes Last (2015); Hag-Seed (2016), a revisitation of Shakespeare’s play The Tempest for the
Hogarth Shakespeare project; Angel Catbird (2016), a graphic novel with cocreator Johnnie
Christmas; and The Testaments (2019), joint winner of the Booker Prize. Margaret lives in
Toronto. Her longtime partner Graeme Gibson died in 2019.
