Chapter 9:

  1. Lurid - Very vivid in color, especially so as to create an unpleasantly harsh or unnatural effect; gruesome or sensational.
  2. Contumacious - Stubbornly or willfully disobedient to authority.
  3. Bucolic - Relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside or rural life.
  4. Incorrigible - Not able to be corrected, reformed, or improved; resistant to change.
  5. Eclectic - Deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.
