Next: Into the Wild Timeline Project  Lesson Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: Understand the structure  of  Into the Wild  (non-linear narrative) and how the author uses flashbacks and varying timelines. Create a visual timeline  of key events from Chapters 1-9. Students be sure to leave space for future chapter timeline entries please. Write creatively  in the style of  Into the Wild , incorporating non-linear techniques to tell a part of the story. Silent Read 15 min Non-Linear Timeline A non-linear timeline is when events are presented out of order , often jumping between past and present. The narrative may switch back and forth between different time periods, characters, and locations, rather than following a strict progression from beginning to end. In non-linear storytelling, the structure is more fragmented and episodic, and the reader is required to piece together the timeline as they go along. This approach is often used to create suspense, emphasize key themes, or offer multiple perspectives on a single event or character.
